A 1990-registered Ford 7810 Silver Jubilee model attracted considerable attention at a vintage tractor auction held in Kerry on Saturday 23 August, selling subject for €49,400 plus VAT and commission.

The sought-after collector’s item appeared in immaculate condition following a respray 20 years ago. It was shod on new BKT tyres and came with the commemorative pewter model originally supplied with each Jubilee tractor when new.

Interestingly, the sale included a second 7810 Silver Jubilee model albeit disguised in blue which sold for €24,900. Having left the factory in the silver anniversary colour, it – like a number of other examples – had been painted blue due to the poor uptake for the silver anniversary models at the time.

These tractors up for auction were part of a wider dispersal sale hosted by Michael Doyle Auctioneers on behalf of Clifford’s Tractor Parts based in Ballymacelligott, Co Kerry and a number of other smaller local collectors. The sale took place both online and onsite, attracting over 700 attendees which included collectors, and agricultural machinery enthusiasts from across Ireland, the UK and even as far as the US. With a total 64 lots, the sale featured vintage tractors ranging from the early 1930s to classic models from the late 1990s. Despite the notable in-person attendance, 88% of bidding was done online with a number of lots sold to the UK.

“The sale attracted huge interest both across the island of Ireland as well as the UK and the USA, particularly for fully restored and rare limited production models. Leaving the higher prices aside, there were several unrestored tractors sold below €5,000 which provided an opportunity for restorers, particularly younger buyers seeking starter projects”, outlined auctioneer Michael Doyle.
