Two national competitions saw clubs go head to head to take home a national title. First up was the All-Ireland debating competition, where Carrigaline Macra, Seandun, Co Cork, beat East Laois to be named Macra’s top debaters for 2015. Carrigaline’s David O’Sullivan also took home the Peter Murphy memorial trophy for the best debater, in honour of Macra’s former national organiser and host of RTE’s Cross Country Quiz. The National Dairy Council basketball final was divided into a men’s competition and a women’s competition. Twenty-six teams took part in the University of Limerick Arena but there could be only one winner in each category.

Tullamore/Killeigh Macra, Co Offaly, were winners in the men’s final while Durrow-Abbeyleix Macra, Co Laois, took the top prize in the women’s competition.

Runners up in the competitions were, for the second year in a row, Whitechurch Macra, Seandun, Cork, in the men’s and, in the women’s, last year’s overall winning team South Sligo Macra.

Well done to everyone who took part.
