The time is fast approaching when Macra members will be invited to elect a new national president for the 2015-2017 term. Simultaneously, elections in Munster, the northwest and eastern regions of Macra will elect vice-presidents for the 2015-2017 term.

Ballots

Where there is more than one candidate for each position, ballot papers were issued to each affiliated club on 16 March.

The proportional representation system is used to elect the president and vice-presidents. Votes are given to each candidate.

The first choice candidate is given a number 1, the second a number 2 and so on through all the candidates.

Clubs should hold a meeting to decide on their choice of candidates and the ballot papers should be completed at this meeting. Clubs are advised to fully complete the ballot papers.

Ballots should then be posted in the envelope provided, which has a code for each club.

Presidential ballot papers and vice-presidential ballot papers can be enclosed in the same envelope.

Election day

Ballot voting closes at 1pm sharp on the election day, 7 April.

Ballots are opened in front of the returning officer and the independent scrutineer and also those attending the count.

Votes are counted and the result announced.
