All farmers must maintain records of pesticide usage as a requirement of cross-compliance.

Each applicant of the Basic Payment Scheme will have received a pesticide application recording sheet, which can be used to maintain records. The information required includes the product name, PCS number, crop to be treated, the area or tonnage treated, application and dilution rate, date applied and the reason for applying.

Remember, only a professional user operating an approved sprayer can apply pesticides. A record must also be kept of the professional user number. See www.pcs.agriculture.gov.ie.
