Meelickaduff Honda Takes Limousin Champion at Corofin Show
A sunny summer’s day brought spectators out in force to the north Clare show which took place in Corofin and had a strong display of quality cattle. Maria Hester reports.
Judge on the day was Sean Ryan from Cappamore Co Limerick. Below is around up of the results from the cattle section:
Limousin
Limousin Champion went to Owen Hester, Castlerea, Co Roscommon, who was rewarded for his long journey, as his heifer Meelickaduff Honda caught the eye of Judge Sean Ryan to take the top spot. This December 2012 born heifer is sired by Wilodge Vantastic and by French dam Etole.

Reserve Champion went to John McInerney, Bunratty, Co Clare with his much admired January born Heifer Calf Drummin Kayleigh sired by Wilodge Vantastic. Her dam Drummin Cliona is by Mas Du Clo who has produced numerous show champions and top priced cattle to date.
Commercial
Commercial Champion went to Tony Hayes Lahinch Co Clare with his January born BB X LM heifer calf.
Reserve Champion went to Kieran Killeen, Mullagh, Co Clare with his Charolais cow & April born Charolais Calf sired by LGL.
Young Handlers
The young handler’s class was hotly contested as usual & had a packed ringside audience. With a strong line up of experienced handlers competition was stiff coming out on top was Rachel Moloney Ardnacrusha Co Clare. Second place went to Owen Hester Castlerea Co Roscommon and third place went to Mia Conlon, Inagh, Co Clare.
