High demand for quality stock at the Jalex Select heifer sale last Friday resulted in 152 in-calf heifers selling for an average £5,242.99.
Six bulls averaged £4,583, while 3 maiden heifers averaged £7,333.30. Three cows and heifers with calves at foot sold for an average of £6,200.
Topping the sale was “Bold Beauty”, a Belgian Blue cross heifer born in January 2023, which sold for £17,000. This 880kg in-calf heifer, due to calve in March 2026, is sired by the Belgian Blue bull PPS and out of a Charolais Fleetwood (FWO) sired dam.

Following closely was another in-calf heifer, born in June 2023 and also due to calve in March 2026, which sold for £12,500.
