Conducted by Carlisle-based auctioneers Harrison and Hetherington, the online timed auction of the Halfway British Blue herd will commence at 7pm on Friday 8 May and end at 7pm on Sunday 10 May.

Property of George Mitchell and family from Banbridge in Co Down, the Halfway herd was founded five years ago with embryos from the 5,000gns Ridge Dean Wisdom ET, and the 4,800gns Ridge Dean Wondering Gem ET – daughters of the famous Ridge Dean Jessie cow bred by English breeder Michele Wilde.

The dispersal sale includes a four-year-old cow, six bulls, 11 maiden heifers and two lots of semen.

Export eligible

All Cattle are eligible for export to Ireland and mainland UK. The herd is tested negative for BVD, TB and Johnes, and all animals are vaccinated for IBR, Lepto and BVD.

The young bulls in the sale range in age from March to October 2024, and are sons of the Rocco de la Hasse son Tattoo VD Sijsloberg and the Baron du Bois Bauloye son Springbank Blackstar.

Halfway Ruby, one of the herd's foundation cows, sells in the sale and is due at the end of September, carrying a heifer by Maradona du Champ du Moulin.

There are also a number of exciting young heifers from the crossing of Oxcroft Lionhart and Ridge Dean Wisdom ET, Springbank Blackstar and Ridge Dean Wondering Gem ET, and Ballygrange Alex and Ridge Dean Wondering Gem ET.

Rounding off the sale are two lots of semen: four straws of Tattoo VD Sijsloberg, a bull renowned for breeding pedigree and commercial show calves, and five straws of Maradona du Champ du Moulin, a bull with a global reputation for breeding stylish progeny.

Viewing day

Prospective bidders are welcome to view the herd on Saturday 2 May 2026, between 11am and 1pm and from 2pm to 4pm. The farm is located at 98 Halfway Road, Banbridge, Co Down, BT324HB. Alternative viewing arrangements will be facilitated via prior appointment with the vendor.
