As temperatures rose, so too did the prices in the Summer Select Texel sale over the weekend.
Hosted by Harrison and Hetherington through MartEye, the online timed auction saw 27 shearlings and ewe lambs go for auction from flocks across Northern Ireland.
An almost full clearance resulted in 17 shearlings averaging £2,435 (€2,875) and eight ewe lambs averaging £1,962 (€2,316), with most of the highest-priced lots finding new homes with Irish breeders.
Securing the highest-priced shearling for their Frenchbook flock in Co Mayo was Messrs Murphy at £9,800 (€11,572).
Consigned by Adrian Liggett of the Corbo flock in Co Tyrone, the top-priced gimmer is a full sister to the overall champion at this year's Northern Ireland championships.
The shearling gimmer Corbo Lig2500938 is a daughter of the 10,000gns Forkins Hawkeye.
Mayo buyers
The second-highest-priced lot also sold to a flock in Co Mayo, this time destined for Messrs Mangan. Selling for £4,000 (€4,723) was Mainview KMR2502759, a shearling from Andrew Kennedy in Co Antrim. This February 2025-born gimmer is sired by Oberstown Hercules.
Trading at £3,800 (€4,487) was another shearling from Adrian Liggett's Corbo flock. Corbo Lig2500935 is also sired by the impressive Forkins Hawkeye and sold in a two-way split to Messrs McGrath and Messrs Greene in Co Donegal.
Up next at £3,600 (€4,251) was a shearling ewe from the Hanthorn family in Co Armagh. Mullan HBN2503304 is out of Drumderg Hitman and a homebred daughter of Garngour Craftsman. Purchasing this high-figured gimmer was Ronan Tuohy in Co Clare.
Hawkeye daughters
Tyrone breeder James Wilkinson then received £3,400 (€4,015) for Ballygroogan WVB2502108, a shearling ewe sired once again by Forkins Hawkeye.
Going back to one of the best Hexel Diamond Joe daughters in the flock, she was acquired by Donegal breeder Messrs O'Donnell.
In total, nine of the 10 top-priced lots were purchased by Irish breeders.
