There was small entry of pedigree cattle forward for sale at the native breeds show and sale in Dungannon Farmers Mart on Friday 2 October.
Just three Angus, three Hereford and six Shorthorn cattle were in attendance on the day. Trade peaked at £5,800 (€6,865) for the champion Angus bull, Drumhill Lord Heartthrob B421, exhibited by Tyrone breeders Jonathan and Lisa Doyle. Born in April 2025, he is a son of Drumhill Evo W757 and Drumhill Lady Heather W761, who traces back to the successful Lady Heather line at Blelack.
Although well below the breed average on calving at -4.8, Heartthrob ranks in the top 10% of the breed for gestation and in the top 20% for milk. Purchasing him for his Lemonfield Angus herd in Co Limerick was Donogh McCarthy.
Judge Clive Richardson from Annaghmore awarded the reserve champion Angus to Coltrim Prince B731, bred by Ivan Forsythe, Moneymore, Co Derry.
Sired by the herd’s stock bull, Island Farm Master Missie X854, he is out of the home-bred Coltrim Princess W327. This 18-month-old bull came under the hammer of auctioneer Trevor Wylie at £3,800 (€4,497), selling to Trevor Irwin from Stewartstown.
Shorthorn
There was a strong trade among the Shorthorns. Five out of the six females on offer averaged £2,520 (€2,928), with the majority maiden heifers.
Leading proceedings here at £3,800 (€4,497) was Robert Joseph Crozier with his cow, Darravale Dorcas P, and her bull calf, Darravale Yew PP. The 2020-born daughter of Chapelton Kingsley sold to P Mc Menamin from Co Tyrone.

It was a tough day’s trading in the Hereford ring, as all three bulls failed to meet their reserve. Lifting the overall championship here was Alan Shaw with Benburb 1 Chris, with Glenn and Tracey Morton in reserve with Nancy Jackson.
