Irish Aberdeen Angus Extravaganza
On Saturday 4 October the highly anticipated Irish Aberdeen Angus Extravaganza sale will take place in Mid-Tipp Mart, Thurles.
Speaking ahead of the event, breed secretary Shane Murphy said: “Last year’s success ensured competition for places in the sale was tougher than ever and so we have our strongest catalogue to date. The 50 choice heifers are the best we’ve seen for what will be our fourth year of the event. Top this off with six of the best bulls in the country and it promises to be another super sale.”
The extravaganza has become known as one of the best sales in Europe with numerous lots sold to Northern Ireland, the UK, Portugal, Italy, Belgium and Romania in recent years. According to the association, any bidders from outside of Ireland will get their accommodation covered if successful in purchasing.
The parade of animals for spectators will begin at 12pm with the sale kicking off at 2pm. The sale includes both in-calf and maiden heifers and each bull has stood champion at the club calf finals. Bidding will be ringside and online through MartEye.
The renowned Roundhill Limousin herd of Tim and Doreen Corridan will host an online timed auction of 20 pedigree Limousin heifers from 3-7 October. Featuring 14 polled heifers, the sale will take place online through Mid-Tipp Mart and MartEye. It offers some exceptionally well-bred heifers, with super indexes from a high health status herd. The sale will close on Tuesday evening 7 October at 8pm.
Hosting its production sale of females and embryos this weekend is the Goldstar Charolais herd in Co Tipperary.
Viewing of the stock takes place on farm on Saturday 4 October from 12.30pm to 5pm (Eircode E41PX85).
Hosted by Mid-Tipp Mart through the MartEye platform, bidding will open on 3 October and close on 6 October at 7pm.
The sale will feature many prize winners from the summer shows, including, the Junior Female Champion from Tullamore, a daughter of the Senior Champion (Goldstar Irene) at Tullamore and Goldstar Vogue, a multiple first prize winner. A total of 23 lots sells, made up of 11 females, four calved recipients all with heifer calves at foot and eight embryo lots.
Shannonside Shorthorn Breeders Club sale
Also taking place on Saturday 4 October is the Shannonside Shorthorn Breeders Cub sale. Hosting this event is Ennis Mart in Co Clare, with ringside and online bidding available through MartBids. Commencing at 12pm, the sale will feature 14 in-calf heifers, 36 maiden heifers, 36 weanling heifers and four choice young bulls. If your looking for a Shorthorn, this is the place to be.
