The Irish Parthenaise Cattle Society is gearing up for its second online timed auction of breeding females and bulls.

Hosted by Denis Barrett auctioneers through MartEye, the sale will open on Friday 29 May and close on Tuesday 2 June at 6pm.

Up for auction are 12 tremendously well-bred pedigree heifers, five of which will be in-calf, as well as a selection of pedigree bulls bred from top of the range sires.

Represented in the sale will be five breeders, offering new and existing breeders a selection of French and Irish bloodlines.

Ronan Carroll, who has animals in the sale, believes the breed is growing in popularity. “Interest in Parthenaise seems to be growing again and it is important for us as a society to promote the sale of Parthenaise cattle as a group.

“As a suckler breed they bring super confirmation being carriers of the double muscle gene, have a high kill-out, are easy-calving and are extremely docile.

“People are seeing these benefits come through in the commercial sector, with a breeder using Parthenaise genetics winning the Ashbourne Meats suckler farmer finisher award for 2025.

“With suckler numbers up for the first time in 10 years, we hope to see more Parthenaise being produced here in Ireland.”

All animals in the sale can be export tested following sale.
