The fifth HW Angus female sale met with huge interest from across the globe as 10 countries competed for a fantastic catalogue of females, carrying some of the most sought-after Aberdeen Angus genetics on the planet.
Auctioneers Harrison and Hetherington described how bidders from the Czech Republic, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, the US and the five home nations competed on Saturday at the famous HW Netherton Angus female sale in Scotland.
The online sale, which took the format of a racehorse style through MartEye, saw eight females sell for over 10,000gns, with Netherton Missie W953 taking pride of place and selling for the leading price of 18,600gns (€22,485).
Descending from the famous Missie line, this five-year-old HW Fabulous daughter ticked all the boxes in terms of pedigree and phenotype. Selling alongside her promising young heifer calf Netherton Missie B107, this eye-appealing outfit was purchased by Messrs O'Kane and Morgan from Wales.
Blackbird
The same outfit also secured Netherton Blackbird W950 with her exciting heifer calf at foot by HW Evolution Z285 at 18,400gns (€22,243).
Another cow from one of the herd's hallmark cow families, W950 is also sired by the impressive stock sire HW Fabulous going back to Coldstream Blackbird 62G and one of the herd's most iconic stock bulls in TLA Northern Samurai.

Up next at 15,400gns (€18,617) was HW Fleur Z876, a 30-month-old daughter of HW Mr Equilibrium W202 and the HW Evander-bred dam HW Fleur S059.
Tracing back to one of the most prominent show lines in the herd, this powerful high-index heifer sold with her calf at foot to Messrs Lowes and sons in Yorkshire.
World-famous lines
Messrs O'Kane and Morgan also took home the Netherton Kracker daughter HW Blackcap May W781 at 12,600gns (€15,232).
Coming from the world-famous SAV Blackcap line, this terrific five-year-old cow went to auction scanned in-calf to HW Mr Equilibrium.
Netherton Frances W952 closed at 10,800gns (€13,056), finding a new residence with Messrs Simpson in Perth.
Born in April 2020, this HW Aranguex W952 daughter displayed all the characteristics you would expect from the acclaimed Frances line and sold with a promising young bull calf by HW Evolution.
Having the final say on Netherton Madame Pride V992 at 10,400gns (€12,572) was Messrs Lear from Buckinghamshire.
Backed up by a broad SAV cow line, this 2019-born Rawburn Boss daughter sold with a HW Evolution heifer calf at foot.
A number of other lots sold to mainland Europe, as 21 cows and heifers in-calf or with young calves at foot averaged £8,316 (€9,574), with eight maiden heifers averaging £4,725 (€5,440) and 25 embryos averaging £663 (€763).
