A 50ac residential farm in Co Sligo in the shadow of Knocknarea has sold for €1.23m.

The farm, which is all in one block, went for €24,600/ac at a public auction on Friday evening and was described as one of the most impressive farms to come on the market in the county in years.

The farm is all in grass and has a number of sheds, cubicles, loose housing and calf pens.

A two-storey detached farmhouse extends to 1,614ft and has been gutted.

Prior to selling it on Friday evening, auctioneer David Reynolds commented that a farm of this size and condition is “extremely rare”.

There is excellent cattle accommodation on the farm.

“It’s not every year you get the chance to buy a farm like this in Sligo,” he told the Irish Farmers Journal last month.

As reported last month, the farm has excellent cattle accommodation and is served by a good road network. It is located 3km from Sligo town.
