The new Queensferry Crossing received motorway status at midnight 31 January, meaning it is no longer to be used by agricultural vehicles. However, vehicles up to 2.9m can use the Forth Road Bridge (FRB) without prior notice.
Agricultural vehicles over 2.9m wide, but below 3.5m wide, must contact the FRB Control Room in advance of movement to gain permission to cross.
Agricultural vehicles over 3.5m wide must contact the FRB control room 24 hours in advance of movement and call again when arriving on-site to gain permission to cross.

If there are high winds and the driver is unsure if the bridge is open, the advice is to contact the control room also.
