The National Dairy Council (NDC) has reconfirmed its mission on behalf of the Irish dairy sector.
Following a review, four areas of action highlighted as priorities have been identified. These include safeguarding the reputation and heritage of Irish dairy among consumers, ensuring dairy supports healthy living, marketing to promote dairy consumption and applied research.
There is still massive public confidence in Irish dairy products, with 72% of Irish consumers believing dairy products are about positive health. At the same time, 21% Irish consumers avoid some kind of milk, and 35% some kind of dairy product.

A review of governance has been completed, to ensure the not-for-profit model adopted meets the requirements of the 2014 Companies Act.
The primary objective of the review was to achieve an outcome where the NDC governance is fit for purpose, while ensuring the membership is fairly represented on the board.
At an EGM on 31 January, the members approved the new NDC Constitution.
