Irish Volvo loader agents Pat O’Donnell & Co will be introducing the new range of H Series wheel loaders in Ireland in the coming months for the 2015 silage season. With new Volvo six-litre diesel stage IV engines and Volvo’s unique torque parallel linkage, the L60H, L70H and L90H wheel loaders are said to deliver improved fuel efficiency without compromising on performance due to high torque at low engine rpm. Volvo claims the new L90H delivers increased engine power, torque and an improved hydraulic flow rate.

The L60H, L70H and L90H are equipped with an Eco-pedal featuring a push-back mechanism that engages when engine rpm is about to exceed the most economic operating range. The operator senses the resistance and reduces pressure to continue within this range.

If full engine speed is needed, the push-back mechanism can be designed to deliver performance. The new models are fitted with load-sensing hydraulics that are claimed to match power to the application, increasing fuel efficiency. This system makes hydraulic power available through variable displacement piston pumps and precision control levers.

The L60H, L70H and L90H are built with Volvo’s Torque Parallel (TP) linkage for versatility and good front visibility. The TP linkage combines the benefits of the Z-bar and parallel linkage to deliver high breakout torque and parallel movement throughout the entire lifting range.

Volvo claims the operator has full control over the load for increased safety and productivity. Double seals on all linkage pins retain lubricating grease and prevent dust entry while Volvo claims the TP linkage geometry provides improved bucket roll-back angles for better stability and less spillage.

These loaders are fitted with a counter shaft transmission that Volvo claims can endure high levels of stress. The transmission settings can be selected by the operator to match applications from short-cycle truck loading to long-distance load and carry, such as on silage pits. The new loaders are equipped with a 100% differential lock on the front axle.

The L60H, L70H and L90H are equipped with new cabs to boost all-round visibility, reduce noise and vibration levels, and give better climate control. An intelligent HMI system informs the operator of all necessary machine information for easy control, peace of mind and reduced fatigue.

These machines are designed to make routine maintenance easy with a one-piece motorised engine hood opening at a wide angle. This gives access to the engine compartment and engine maintenance points, which are grouped together for fast service checks.

New H2 trailers from Herron

Herron Engineering, based in Castlewellan, Co Down, has launched a new H2 range of grain and silage trailers. The H2 trailers have a slim-fit hydraulic door system.

The grain and silage trailers are available in 14t, 16t and 18t sizes, all with 1.5m (5ft) deep bodies and hydraulic up-and-over doors, single multi-stage hydraulic rams, LED lights and strobes, and sprung draw bars. Options available include steering axles, air brakes, and various wheel sizes. Easy sheets for cover at grain and silage levels are also available.

New H2 dump trailers will be launched in 2015 and will be available in 15t, 18t and 20t models. These trailers have a high lift door for clearance, low sides to allow access to smaller diggers and a wider bottom for stability.

Herron Trailers manufactures in the region of 600 units per year, made up of trailers and slurry tankers. The company currently exports to Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Herron Trailers has been in business 25 years and now employs a staff of 25.
