John Heslin has been appointed as head of sales at The Agricultural Trust, publisher of the Irish Farmers Journal.
The UCD agricultural science graduate has a PhD in beef research and an executive MBA.
Heslin has worked in Teagasc as a beef researcher at the Derrypatrick suckler herd in Grange, focusing on beef production systems.

He then moved into commercial roles including product manager and later market access and marketing manager for MSD Animal Health Intelligence Ireland.
Most recently, he held the role of global commercial lead for dairy monitoring in MSD.
Heslin, a part-time suckler farmer, was one of Westmeath’s top inter-county Gaelic footballers, retiring from county football in 2025 to focus on his professional commitments.
His agricultural work reflects a strong commitment to research, innovation, and animal welfare, such as using technology on his farm.
