PJ Nolan, a dairy farmer from Navan in Co Meath, was one of the seven new members elected to the OCI executive committee on Thursday night. A prominent local cyclist and club organiser, PJ was formerly president of Cycling Ireland, which nominated him for the OCI position.
His CV includes stints as farming journalist with RTE and the Irish Farmers Journal.
Under the leadership of its new president Sarah Keane, the OCI needs to move on from the Pat Hickey era and the Rio ticketing scandal. No doubt this will keep PJ busy between morning and evening milking – The Dealer wishes him all the best in this new endeavour. If the going gets tough, PJ may look for inspiration from his father Sean, one of the organisers of the 1966 March for Farmers' Rights.
