Despite having to deal with a sluggish domestic and international pig market, Jim Hanley has been able to enjoy some success outside of the Rosderra boardroom in recent days. As well as being boss of the country’s largest pig processor, Hanley is also chairman of League of Ireland club Longford Town FC.
Longford were promoted to the premier division of the league last Friday night after an impressive a 5-0 home win over Shamrock Rovers. Hanley may only be a figurehead at the football club these days, but he held it together for years during less successful times.
