Teagasc has revealed that the end of milk quotas has, at least in part, led to the end of the strict “quota” imposed on them by the recruitment embargo.

Teagasc director Gerry Boyle said the Department has agreed to allow Teagasc recruit four new advisers, one of them a specialist dairy expansion adviser. These will be the first full appointments in six years, since the recruitment embargo was imposed on all state bodies as part of the Government’s austerity programme.
