I must tip my hat to young dairy farmer Becky Hynes of Rathard Holsteins and Jerseys, Aherla, Co Cork for her impressive win over the weekend at the Sydney Royal Show.

A love of cows and the hope of some sun led the 18-year-old to the prestigious cattle lawn, where she was named champion of the Dairy Cattle Paraders’ Competition on Saturday.

Young Hynes, daughter of Peter and Paula, has impressed several Australian dairy exhibitors and breeders in recent years and helped show cattle for a number of families on her big day.

Judges are said to have mistaken the Cork woman’s accent for some form of cow whisper, a rare talent down under.
