Revenue’s most recent list of tax defaulters for the period 1 January to 31 March 2026 names 15 individuals for the misuse of marked mineral oil, commonly known as green diesel.

Felix Connors from Taghmon, Co Wexford, Lorraine Delaney from Seandoire, Durrow, Co Laois and John Gallagher from Edergole, Co Donegal were each fined €2,500 for the misuse of green diesel.

Also named on the list for green diesel misuse were Margaret Doran of Clonmelish, Co Carlow, Julie Ann Green of Hackballcross, Co Louth, Peter Mackessy of Drumcollogher, Co Limerick and Terence McInerney of Ballyegan, Birr, Co Offaly, who were each fined €2,500.

Edward Stokes from Ballyforan, Co Roscommon, Tony Pio O’Reilly from Meelagh Drive, Mahon, Co Cork, Denis O’Callaghan from Dromina, Charleville, Co Cork and James O’Brien from Seaview Heights, Rathnew, Co Wicklow were all fined €2,500 for the misuse of green diesel.

Community service

Additionally, Martin O’Donovan from Gort an Choirce, Co Galway and Michael Stokes from Barrymore, Kiltoom, Co Roscommon were each fined €3,000 for green diesel misuse, while Daniel Harkin from Crehennan, Quigley's Point, Co Donegal was fined €2,800.

Melissa Reilly from Condon’s Cross, Cahir Road, Clonmel, Co Tipperary received a sentence of 80 hours of community service in lieu of four months imprisonment for the misuse of green diesel.

Brendan Whearty a farmer trading as B W Agri Services from Collierstown, Bellewstown, Co Meath had a settlement of €93,483 for having under-declared VAT.

The settlement breakdown consists of €69,000 in tax, €3,783 in interest and €20,700 in penalties.

VAT and income tax returns

One agricultural contractor from Carlow and one vet surgeon from Wexford were included on the list for both the failure to lodge VAT returns and the failure to lodge income tax returns.

Agricultural contractor Patrick O’Toole from Ballycarney, Green Road, Carlow was fined €2,500 for failing to lodge VAT returns and he was also fined €1,250 for not lodging income tax returns.

William Kinsella, a vet surgeon from Manderlay, Crosstown, Wexford was fined €2,500 for failing to lodge VAT returns and an additional fine of €2,500 was imposed for failure to lodge income tax returns.
