Pilgrim Hill, an award-winning film depicting the life of a bachelor farmer in Kerry, Jimmy Walsh, is being screened in Corrin Mart on Wednesday 4 May by Mitchelstown Macra.
Lead actor Joe Mullins describes it as “about capturing where we are as a society and how for one reason or another some people unfortunately get left behind. We all know Jimmy Walsh. He exists in every community whether it be on a small farm in Kerry or a flat in Ballymun. It is a universal story. Everybody has to deal with loneliness at some stage in their lives”.
The event is being run in conjunction with the mental health organisation, First Fortnight.

As well as the movie screening, there will be guest speakers including JP Swaine (First Fortnight), Seán Finan (Macra president) and an IFA representative to discuss important aspects of mental health. The event is open to all people from farming and non-farming backgrounds.
