The organisers of the Strokestown Show have warned attendees about fraudulent emails and fake vendor applications being circulated purporting to be from the organisers.
The emails are being sent from info.strokestownshow@gmail.com, directing recipients to a tally form for applications for vendor spaces at the show.
The official Strokestown Show email address is info@strokestownshow.ie and all official information and applications are available through the show’s website at www.strokestownshow.ie.
Cormac Dolan, secretary of the show, told the Irish Farmers Journal that their website was only set up about two weeks ago and that scammers are quick to catch on and target people with fake emails.
The Strokestown Show committee is advising anyone who receives a suspicious email not to complete any form or make any payment, not to reply to the email, and to report it as phishing and delete it.
The committee is also recommending that anyone who has completed the fraudulent form or made a payment contact them.
If anyone is unsure of the validity of contact from the Strokestown Show, they are encouraged to get in touch with the committee.
