From left: Ian Proudfoot, KPMG; Ciaran Fitzgerald, IBEC; Matt Dempsey, Agricultural Trust; Gramah Gudgin, Cambridge University; and Paul Finnerty, ABP, at the KPMG-Irish Farmers Journal agribusiness report launch.
This week’s Irish Farmers Journal includes our special AgriBusiness report in association with KPMG.
The report focuses on how to overcome uncertainty in a fragile world and contains a global survey of how agribusinesses plan to develop in the years ahead. The slowdown in the global economy has seen the focus shift back from emerging markets towards the further development of existing markets.
As a leading food exporter, Ireland needs to be conscious of this shift. Our focus in recent years has been on looking east of Europe. It is time to concentrate more on developing the premium markets that lie to the west.
