Monaghan may not have come out on top when it came to the Ulster final last Sunday, but one Clones man was far from deflated last weekend.

In leg 15 of the Horseware/ TRM National Grand Prix League at The Meadows in Co Antrim, Clem McMahon took on just under 40 combinations to emerge victorious riding Any Questions.

This horse is a nine-year-old KWPN bay mare by Oklund, who answered all the questions posed by Course Builder Nigel Jess. In one of the most exciting jump-offs of the season, the competition was high, with a gallop to the last being the final test.

Less than a second divided the top three placings, with Ger O’Neill and Hayakari pushed into second place by the slimmest of margins, and Alexander Butler with Monastery Stud More Pleasure taking third.

Alexander Butler now edges closer to Vincent Byrne at the top of the League leaderboard and Mr Rockefeller still dominates the leading horse table.

The Meadows also played host to a leg of the Irish Sporthorse Studbook showjumping series.

Former World Champion Dermott Lennon and Caspian (ISH) won this latest leg in Armagh.

Caspian is a 2007 gelding by Lux Z (HANN) out of Thirza (KWPN), by Burggraaf (HOLST). The breeder is Andries de Bont of Cork, while the owner is Allan Davidson.

The six-year-old final was won by Thomas O’Brien riding Mini Cruzano (ISH), a 2008 mare by Silvano (KWPN) out of Hyundai Santa Fe (ISH), by Cruising (ISH).

The breeder is Oliver Walsh of Galway and the owner is Leona Walsh.

With Just four legs of the Horseware/ TRM National Grand Prix left to go, the action now moves to Tattersalls next weekend for the annual show, which also boasts a leg of the Premier Series.
