A timed online auction held by Cheffins auctioneers on behalf of major UK dealer, Ernest Doe, took place from 25 January to 4 February.

Known as the ‘The Doe Show with a Difference’, it was the 61st such Doe Show auction to take place.

New, used, ex-hire and ex-demonstration machinery was offered for sale.

According to Cheffins, a total of 641 lots were sold across agricultural, construction and groundcare machinery, with sales from the event totalling £1,256,125 (€1,434,355), with the auction microsite seeing over 110,000 page views.

Given current COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, this year Ernest Doe took the decision to host its annual major machinery show online. With clearance stock and used machinery offering a large part of the online event, the show gave customers the opportunity to purchase a wide range of machinery via the Cheffins online auction.

The lot which achieved the highest price at the event was a 2019 Case IH Puma 220 ex-hire tractor which was sold for £93,000 (€106,195). This was followed by a New Holland tractor, a 2018 T7.315 HD which made £81,000 (€92,493).

Other highlights include £63,250 (€72,224) for a 2019 Hyundai HX140LC excavator, £38,250 (€43,677) for a 2017 Manitou MLT737 telehandler, £35,000 (€39,966) for a 2015 New Holland T7.250 tractor and £29,250 (€33,400) for a 2017 Lemken Compact-Solitair nine-disc drill.

New features

The 61st Doe Show also featured a new microsite, showcasing a number of manufacturers, including Case IH and New Holland, with interactive videos and product walk trough’s created for the Doe Show.

“The sale saw buyers from across the UK and further afield all competing for the best items available, proving that the timed online auction format continues to pay dividends for machinery sellers.

“Bidders came from throughout the EU including Holland, Belgium, Germany and Scandinavia. There also continues to be a significant number of post-sale deals agreed on the agricultural, construction and groundcare machinery on offer, ensuring that Ernest Doe sold as much stock as possible,” said Bill King, chair at Cheffins.
