The Bawnogue Suffolk Sheep Flock, the property of Herbert Stanley, will be sold at Blessington Mart on Saturday 1 November at 12pm. The flock was established in 1961, and contains the proceeds of 53 years of breeding.
With the purchases of many sires from Ireland and Britain, the flock progressed to win many major championships including the premier show sale, national flock competition and other national shows across Ireland. The sale offers 24 ewes for sale in lamb to Kilbeg ‘Crack A Jack’, a Shannagh the Best Son, to Crosemanor Ard Ri by Pankymoor Prelude. He was sire of the year in 2002, with sons selling to €13,000. There will also be 14 ewe lambs for sale, daughters of Mountford Bolt, a Cairness-bred ram whose sire has produced ram lambs selling up to 26,000gns. This dispersal will be held in conjunction with 5th Annual Production Sale of Pedigree Suffolk Ewes Scanned in Lamb with over 100 females on offer.
