A flock of pedigree lambs have been attacked by a dog, leaving one lamb dead and seven injured.

The attack on the flock of pedigree Beltex ewe lambs happened recently at a farm in Angus, bringing a significant loss to the farmer, Neil Caul of Balkello, Auchterhouse.

The seven injured lambs required antibiotics, with three requiring stitches as well.

One lamb was put down due to the severity of the injuries.

These lambs were a result of embryo transfer and were the last in that genetic line. Speaking to NFU Scotland, Neil Caul said: “The owners should at least have had the decency to come forward and let me know of the incident.”
