Pöttinger Ireland, the Clonmel based, wholly owned subsidiary of Pöttinger Landtechnick, Austria, has appointed Atkins Farm Machinery Birr as its new dealer for the midlands.

Atkins Farm Machinery Birr takes over the dealership from Portumna Agri, run by the Shaw family, which also owns New Holland dealership WR Shaw of Tullamore.

Atkins Farm Machinery has operated from Cork since 1878 and the company was incorporated in 1903.

Equipment

The appointment of Atkins Farm Machinery Birr sees all of the Atkins Farm Machinery depots offering the full Pöttinger grassland and tillage range of equipment.

“Atkins Farm Machinery are recognised for offering a personal service to their customers and this new appointment is key to supporting our existing and growing customer base in the midlands of Ireland,” said Diarmuid Claridge, managing director of Pöttinger Ireland.

Mark Wolfe, managing director of Atkins, said: “Our Birr branch, which doubles up as a retail business for Fendt and a distribution hub for Bredal and Bogballe fertiliser spreaders, opened a year ago.

“So much has been achieved in one year by a skilled and motivated group.

“The addition of the Pöttinger portfolio completes our offering by adding a tillage product line and industry leading grassland products,” he said. Atkins Farm Machinery Birr is managed by Trevor Richardson.
