Prices for calved heifers are up by €100 to €200/hd on last year at dairy sales all around the country.
In Gortatlea Co Kerry, on Friday last there was a strong trade for quality stock, with freshly calved heifers ranging from €1,300 to €1,640 each.
In Fermoy, Co Cork, quality calved heifers easily made €1,500 plus and well over €2,000 for choice lots.
Carnew Mart saw calved heifers make €1,250 to €1,950.
In Nenagh, north Tipperary, fresh calved heifers made from €1,400 to top of €2,100.
