North and south Meath are both represented in a run of upcoming auctions through REA T.E. Potterton, with three holdings coming forward over the next few weeks, including two with derelict houses and one clean block of land.

At Baltrasna near Oldcastle, a 7.5ac holding with a derelict residence comes under the hammer with a guide of €89,000 to €100,000. The land is laid out in grass and sits around 6km from Oldcastle, giving it the feel of a compact smallholding with a house already in place.

For buyers willing to take on the work, the property may qualify for the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant, which adds another layer to its appeal.

Also near Oldcastle, a separate 15ac block at Rathbrack goes to auction with a guide of €100,000 to €115,000. This is the most straightforward of the three, with the focus firmly on the land itself.

It is laid out in workable divisions, with natural water supply and cattle handling facilities already in place, making it the clearest fit for someone looking to add grazing ground.

Further south, at Dangan near Summerhill, a 10.5ac holding with a derelict house is guiding at €200,000. The house sits in a mature roadside setting and offers scope for redevelopment, subject to planning.

Unlike the Oldcastle properties, its position within easier reach of Dublin may broaden the interest beyond local farming buyers.

All three Meath properties will be sold by public and online auction via the LSL app on 20 May next at 3pm.
