Revenue officers have seized a number of drugs concealed in beef jerky packets.

The packets were sniffed out with the help of detector dog Bailey.

Up to 4kg of illegal drugs were seized by Revenue officers at the Dublin Mail Centre on Monday 22 March.

Separately, another 5.7kg were seized by officers at Athlone Mail Centre on the same day, with both seizures estimated to be worth over €127,000.

The packages of drugs were concealed in packages that also included labels such as ‘boxing equipment’, ‘dough craft toy’, ‘fishing tackle’, ‘beef jerky’ and ‘ice hockey equipment’ and were destined for various addresses throughout Ireland.

They came from countries such as the US, Spain and Canada.
