A 73ac grassland farm with a modern cattle yard is one of a number of quality farms due to be sold over the coming weeks by Westmeath auctioneers James L Murtagh.
That farm is at Brideswell, Athlone, Co Roscommon. The land is laid out in three separate divisions but they are all close by. This means the farm could be of interest for setting up a new dairy platform, auctioneer Padraig Murtagh says. Half of the land has been reseeded in recent years and is good-quality pasture. The fields are bounded by stone walls and good hedging.
The yard is designed for easy handling of cattle. There is a four-bay slatted shed with centre feed passage, a three-bay hayshed with four-bay lean-to, a silage slab in good condition and a handling yard with a chute and head gate and a holding area. The sheds are newly rewired.
The farm will be sold in three lots. Lot 1 is the farmyard and 31ac, lot 2 is 37ac, lot 3 is 5.6ac and lot 4 is the entire. The guide price is €8,500/ac to €10,000/ac.
The auction will take place on Thursday 8 July at 4pm and will run at the same time on the LSL platform.
Other upcoming auctions
On the following day, Friday 9 July at 4pm, the auctioneers will sell a 106ac farm in Grehanstown, Killucan, Co Meath. The holding has a house which has been empty for some years but is structurally very sound.
The land in this area is good quality and the farm for sale is likewise – good land with no waste. The 106ac will be offered in four lots. All have frontage on to two or more public roads. Lot 1 is the house on 4.8ac, lot 2 is 11ac, lot 3 is 44.5ac, lot 4 is 46ac and lot 5 is the entire.
The guide price for the entire is €10,000/ac. The guide price for lot 1, the house on 4.8ac, is €200,000 and the guide for the various lots of farmland is €9,000/ac to €10,000/ac. The auction takes place in the Greville Arms Hotel at 4pm and runs also on the LSL platform. Pre-registration is necessary.
Next week, James L Murtagh will auction 25ac in Edmundstown and 48.5ac at Mullanakill, both in Co Westmeath.
