Two Scottish livestock producers are planning to run their own on-farm ram and bull sales.
The Scotts at Fearn Farms in Easter Ross, and the McGowans at Incheoch Farm near Blairgowrie, are both going to sell their livestock under the helmsman-style online auction system, ‘Yourbid’.
In a first for the UK, under the Yourbid system all livestock are on the market at the same time, meaning farmers can bid remotely on a number of animals.

Videos will be provided of all the livestock alongside commentary on the performance figures of the animals. Stock can be viewed by appointment beforehand.
Dingwall and Highland Marts, as well as United Auctions, are offering technical and payment support for the sale.
The first sale is at Fearn farm on 28 August with 120 New Zealand Suffolk, Texel, Aberfield and Beltex rams, as well as 300 gimmers for sale. Incheoch sale is on 3 September with 100 Texel, Lleyn and Stormtrooper (Suffolk cross Texel) rams and 19 Simmental, Angus and Luing bulls for sale.
