A relaxing of COVID-19 restrictions has meant that from Monday 3 May, farmers selling livestock in marts across NI can be present ringside as their animals are being sold.

Prior to the latest rule change, farmers selling non-breeding stock had to drop animals off and return home, with their animals sold conditionally.

Under the new arrangements, once sold, sellers must exit the sale ring.

Farmers are reminded that only pre-registered buyers can be present throughout the duration of a sale.

Also, whilst on the mart premises, farmers must were face coverings, sanitise hands and abide by social distancing protocols.
