The Irish Texel Society held its premier show and sale last weekend, with the show and sale of females on Friday then followed by the ram sale on Saturday.
A record entry saw well over 300 sheep sold on the Saturday.

Speenogue Iron Man from the Donegal based Sean McHugh and family sold for a record price of €40,000.
Shearling rams
There were just over 50 Shearling rams on offer. There was a very strong demand from commercial buyers for Shearlings, with pedigree breeders pushing on the prices for the top few lots.
First prize in the Shearling ram category went to Brian Divilly, from his Annaghdown flock. The Casltegar Edward-sired Shearling sold for €3,500.
Top price went to John Donohoe for his Annaghdown Goldfinger-sired hogget, which sold for €4,000.

Pat and Barry Farrell's overall female champion sold for a top female price of €10,000.
Ram lambs
There was a large entry of ram lambs with 220 on offer. Neville Myles picked up male champion and supreme champion for his Connemara Hilltop-sired ram lamb.
Top price in the sale went to Sean McHugh of the Speenogue flock. His ram lamb Speenogue Iron Man, sired by Silver Hill Helpful, sold for a staggering €40,000.
The €40,000 price tag broke the previous record for a Texel sheep in Ireland with the previous being €38,000, which held for 19 years.
An Auldhouseburn Fancy Pants-sired ram lamb bred by Irene Donnelly of the Annefield flock sold for €20,000.
The reserve champion ram lamb and reserve overall champion sold for the second highest price in the sale for €20,000 for the Donnelly family.

Jarlath Joyce sold this Equinox cross Gucci son for €6,000.
Females
There were 84 females on offer, with a selection of Shearling ewes and ewe lambs.
Patrick and Barry Farrel of the Oberstown flock got first prize Shearling ewe and female champion for their Shearling ewe. The Hilltop Golden Eye-sired shearling sold for €10,000.
