The Sherry Fitzgerald group is very busy at present with a good number of farms on the books.

On 19 May, at 12pm the group will auction 94ac of good-quality land at Ballyvarney, Co Kildare.

In the past, all of this land was used for tillage. It’s now in a mix of grass and stubble.

The asking price is €950,000 which is the equivalent of €10,100/ac. Auctioneer Philip Guckian said that the property has 140 mature beech trees which add to its appeal.

Kerry land

In Co Kerry, Sherry Fitzgerald auctioneer Paul Stack is selling a 97.36ac farm at Shanaway, Tarbert, by private treaty. This is elevated, undulating land with good natural drainage, he says. There is a two-storey farmhouse – in need of refurbishment – with an adjoining storage shed.

The farm is accessed via a shared private lane off Steeple Road close to the N69 Listowel/Limerick road. It is close to Tarbert village.

The holding is in one block and divided into a number of fields.

The farm has good views of the Shannon Estuary and surrounding countryside. The guide price is €1.1m and the joint agents are Dillon Prendiville. The auctioneers say that a strong offer has now been put in for this farm.

The same auctioneers have now sold a 63ac grassland holding at Moyvane, Co Kerry to a local drystock farmer. The selling price was €11,000/ac.
