Galway auctioneers Paddy Keane & Co have two parcels of land for sale which are side by side, presenting an unusual buying opportunity for any local farmer looking to expand.

The two blocks of land are at Beagha, Creagh, but are being sold by different owners. One is 28.3ac, all in one division. Auctioneer Paddy Keane said this is good land suitable for grazing year round. It has close to 300m of frontage on the old Ballinasloe to Dublin road. There is an old-style cottage in need of modernisation and a two-bay hayshed on the land.

The other holding is 25ac. It is similar good-quality land and also has approximately 300m of frontage on to the same road. Both blocks of land have mains water laid on.

The area is outside Ballinasloe. Both pieces of land are approximately 1km from an access junction on to the M6 motorway. The asking price for each is €12,000/ac.

The auctioneer is also selling 33ac at Perssepark, Ballinasloe. This land is in permanent pasture and is good quality.

The holding is laid out in 3ac to 4ac fields. There is approximately 200m of frontage on to the R348 Ballinasloe to Athenry road.

Adding to interest there are sand deposits on the land and there has been commercial quarying of sand in the area. The farm comes with entitlements to EU direct payments. This is an executors’ sale.

Finally, Paddy Keane is selling a 6.8ac field in grass at Clarary, Creagh. This land lies on the R357 Ballinasloe to Roscommon road and, Paddy Keane says, is only some 4km from the centre of Ballinasloe. The asking price is €9,000/ac.
