The weekly cattle sale at Swatragh Mart saw another good offering of store animals, with plenty of buyers around the ring looking to source quality stock.

The trade for bullocks saw heavier forward lots weighing over 500kg selling from £1,090 to £1,150/head.

Lighter cattle weighing 350kg to 400kg sold to £920 for good-quality continental types, while plainer cattle were selling back to £600. Weanlings around the 300kg mark sold from £500 to £615/head.

Store heifers sold from £600 to £680 for cattle weighing 350kg to 400kg, with lighter types weighing under 300kg making from £450 to £500, depending on quality.

The weekly sheep sale saw fat ewes selling to a top price of £79/head on several occasions.

Fat lambs were a good trade, with a top price of £86 paid on 25kg. Lambs weighing 24kg to 24.5kg were selling from £84 to £85.80.
