There was a super entry of cattle forwarded for sale at Enniskillen Mart on Thursday. Buying demand was robust across all classes of cattle.

Demand for bullocks was exceptionally strong for forward lots.

The trade reached a top price of £1,350 for a 638kg Charolais, followed closely by £1,335 paid for a 608kg animal from the same vendor.

Heavy cattle sold from 190p to 230p/kg for a 518kg Limousin, which made £1,190. Other noted prices saw forward lots making £1,160 up to £1,250 for cattle weighing 520kg to 575kg.

Mid-weight bullocks sold from 205p to 252p/kg for a 418kg Charolais animal. Lightweight lots sold from 210p to 240p/kg for a 360kg Charolais.

Heifers

In the heifer ring, prices peaked at £1,100 for a 550kg animal, with several lots weighing 500kg to 520kg selling from £1,000 to £1,040.

Mid-weight heifers sold from 180p to 218p/kg, with the general run of trade seeing cattle sell from £900 up to £990 for a 450kg animal.

Weanlings and calves

Weanling bulls sold from £600 up to £980 for a 326kg Charolais, while heifers sold from £480 to £910, with weight and quality being strongly reflected in price.

Calves sold to £325 for a Belgian Blue bull. Other Blue calves sold from £240 to £280. Charolais calves sold to £320 for a heifer, with bull calves making £250.

Limousin calves sold to £245 for a heifer, with bull calves making £240. Angus calves sold to £245, while Friesian calves sold to £135.

Cows

Suckler cows sold to £1,640 for a Simmental animal with a bull calf at foot. Other prices saw Simmental cows with bull calves make £1,320 and £1,300.

Angus cows with calves sold to £1,360, while Hereford cows sold to £1,490. Limousin cows and calves sold to £1,460.

Fat cows sold to a top price of £1,290 for a 700kg animal, with lighter lots carrying flesh selling from £1,100 to £1,160.

Friesian cows sold from 72p to 142p/kg for a 620kg animal.
