Laois-based auctioneering firm Hennessy Auctioneers held its monthly machinery auction last Saturday 29 August at its usual location, the old mart in Portlaoise, Co Laois.

A good variety of farm machinery from small tools to larger implements, loaders and tractors with a number of 4x4s were on site to be sold. In total, over 350 lots went under the hammer.

This 2003 Toyota Hilux 4x4 sold for €4,100.

Speaking with John Hennessy he said: “Despite a reduced number of bidders on site this time around due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had instead a higher number of online bidders. In total, there were 233 online bidders registered for the auction which has proved a great success since we first introduced the option of online bidding back in June.”

This Keenan diet feeder sold for €6,750.

The sale finished up with a clearance rate of 85%. All prices were subject to commission of 5%, with a maximum fee of €1,000 plus 23% VAT on commission only. All lots unless otherwise stated had no VAT.

Next month’s auction is scheduled to take place on Saturday 26 September.

This Massey Ferguson 6490 had 10,500 hours on the clock. It was bid to €17,075 plus VAT.

This Ifor Williams 10ft x 5ft plant trailer sold for €3,500.
