Student from Kildalton College victim of serious assault
A student from Kildalton College is in Waterford Regional Hospital after falling victim to a serious assault that occurred on John Street, Waterford, on Wednesday night.

A student in his first year at Kildalton Agricultural College in Piltown, Co Kilkenny, was the victim of a serious assault in Waterford last night (Wednesday).
The young man, 18, fell victim to the assault on John Street, Waterford at approximately 11.30pm.
Gardaí attended the scene and found him lying on the path of John Street. He was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital, and has undergone surgery.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, and in particular anyone who may have been in John Street/John Bridge area of Waterford on Wednesday night between 11pm and midnight, to contact them on 051-305300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666 111 or any garda station.

Speaking to the Irish Farmers Journal, principal of Kildalton College Paul Hennessy said the college was contacted by the Gardaí and the young man's parents on Thursday morning.
"We were very sorry to hear what happened," he said. "The latest we have heard is that he is out of intensive care," he said. "He was only in college two weeks when this happened but we look forward to seeing him back when he is fully recovered."
