Lotto tickets were being checked and doubled-checked in Kinlough, Co Leitrim, over the weekend when it emerged that the winning ticket for Saturday’s €11,179,621 jackpot had been sold in the Spar on the village’s main street.

There was plenty of excitement among locals as well as speculation about who Ireland’s newest millionaire could be, according to shop owner Noel McGowan when speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland on Monday.

“There’s an odd peculiar movement all right; we’ll say nothing about it yet. One guy went up the road in a new tractor – that’s suspicious,” he said.

The Dealer understands buying activity at marts in the Leitrim area is also being closely monitored by locals.
