Last year farmer Paddy Murphy saw a goat tipping some of his ewes, but thought nothing would come of it. However, almost three weeks ago one of his purebred cheviots dropped a brown creature with budding horns. The “geep” has been thriving since and an Irish Farmers Journal video of it has been viewed almost a quarter of a million times online.

The media outlets that have reported on the unusual creature include the BBC, The Guardian, Time.com, Fox News and People magazine.

Murphy is going to run a competition in his pub in Ballymore Eustace to find a name for the wee fella. All donations raised will be donated to help with the care of a local sick child.

The Irish Farmers Journal has been in touch with scientists at UCD to do some blood tests on the hybrid to discover what exactly its genetic makeup is.
