This week's front cover: the milk train in west Cork

The Harte family bringing in the cows for milking on the farm at Cahermore, Rosscarbery, Co Cork. Pictured is grandad Michael with his son Fergal and his three children - John, Aoife and Colm. The Hartes run a 165-cow herd that are out day and night. They started on the second rotation a week ago, but Fergal has found grass growth slow, so he is buffering the herd on zero-grazed grass in the evenings. The cows are milking 27 litres at 3.30% protein and 3.70% butterfat on 4kg of an 18% meal. \ Donal O’Leary
