WSI inspections

The Warmblood Studbook of Ireland, in collaboration with their partner, the KWPN, have announced they will be holding stallion inspections in October and November. All outstanding sport horse, warmblood, and pure blood stallions are invited to participate. Stage 1 inspections will be held on October 1 at Tralee Equestrian Centre, October 11 at Duffy’s EC (Claregalway), October 12 at Tubberbride EC (Sligo), October 24 at Warrington Top Flight EC (Kilkenny) and October 25 in Mullingar EC.

Eventing Europeans

Two Irish riders finished in the top 10 at the Young Rider European Eventing Championships in Montelibretti, Italy, last weekend.

The best of those was Nessa Briody who finished eighth on Tom Boy with a total of 59 penalties. Her teammate Elizabeth Hayden was just two places behind in 10th aboard Loughnatousa Joey, who ended with 60.50 penalties. The young riders finished sixth out of 10 teams. Meanwhile, the junior eventing team of Correna Bowe (LLC Cooley), Anna Kelly (Something Special), Tessa Harley (Catsky) and Ella Boyle (Catriona) were just outside the medals when placing fourth in the team competition.

Kenny’s winning streak

Before going on to win the Grand Prix at CSIO Barcelona, Darragh Kenny posted a victory in the 1.45m El Periodico Trophy Table C class on Friday with Fixdesign Funke van't Heike.

Kenny guided the 11-year-old mare to a clear round in 74.06 seconds to win by less than a second over Britain’s John Whitaker and Echo Of Light.
