As this series continues to explore homes around the country listed for under €200,000, attention moves further east this week to Co Wexford.
While properties at this level become less common closer to the Dublin commuter belt, buyers can still find a mix of opportunities across the southeast. Sherry FitzGerald Radford currently has two properties on the market in Co Wexford that illustrate the variety available to buyers seeking homes below the €200,000 mark.
First up, is a traditional farmhouse at Ballyliamgow, near Newbawn, which comes to the market with an asking price of €185,000.
The property sits on approximately 1ac and includes a structurally sound dwelling with generous space surrounding the house. The site offers potential for buyers hoping to take on a rural renovation project while shaping the house and grounds to suit their own needs.
While the building requires a full refurbishment, the agent confirmed that the new owners could apply for the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant (VPRG).
According to selling agent John Radford, a renovation costing roughly €150,000 on top of the grant support would leave the property as what he described as “a fine home”.
The outdoor space around the dwelling could also suit buyers who require room for hobbies or other interests, particularly those looking for additional storage, workspace or gardening space.
Location-wise, Newbawn village is around 4km away where the nearest bus stop can be found, providing transport connections to nearby towns.

Turnkey property
A townhouse on Main Street, Fethard-On-Sea, also known as Fethard, comes to the market with an asking price of €199,000 and is presented as a turnkey property.
Extending to about 88 sq m, the house includes a living room, kitchen and dining area along with three bedrooms.
The property sits in the centre of the village and is within walking distance of local amenities including shops, cafés and everyday services.
Fethard lies on the Hook Peninsula and the surrounding area is known for its coastal scenery and beaches.
According to the agent, the property sits within travelling distance of 14 different beaches. Interest so far has come from a diverse range of buyers, though holiday home seekers have been particularly drawn to the area because of its coastal setting.
They also noted that the property is a low maintenance two-storey three bedroom home.
A bus stop is located roughly a three-minute walk from the house, providing convenient access to nearby towns and services. Two Bus Éireann routes serve Fethard-on-Sea; route 370 provides a commuter service to Waterford via New Ross.
