Farmers have been active bidders for heifers, while there has been continued activity from northern buyers for weanling bulls in some places, with buyers looking to take advantage of the euro-sterling differential.
Calf prices easing slowly

After a strong few weeks, the calf trade would appear to be showing signs of slowing, although demand varies depending on the mart. The average Friesian bull made €110 in the past week, with stronger calves selling with ease from €120 to €150. Shipper activity continues to increase and prices are averaging from €80 to €90 for light calves. Angus and Herefords are making from €230 to €305.
