A large mountain holding in east Co Wicklow goes for auction this month. The property at Aughavannagh amounts to 1,520ac including commonage and enclosed mountain land. It is for sale from Quinn Property.

The location is 12km from Aughrim, 12km from Arklow and the N11 and 15km from Rathdrum.

The largest part of the holding is open heather commonage running from Aughavannagh towards Lugnaquilla, providing rough grazing. There are c1520ac held in Fee Simple and the vendors have grazing rights on c538ac of this land. Further legal detail is available from the vendor’s solicitor.

This allows for grazing of one sheep to the acre.

Four other landowners graze the commonage and have rights over the 1520ac.

Part of the land has frontage on to a public road but the majority is accessed via a right-of-way lane.

The online auction will be held on Wednesday 24 May at 1pm. The property will be offered in the following lots:

  • Lot 1: fee simple of c1,520 acres with c538ac of grazing rights on Aughavannagh Mountain and c1ac of enclosed land nearby. The guide price is €250,000.
  • Lot 2: c8ac adjoining the Aughrim to Baltinglass road, guided at €40,000. This is rough grazing land and also suitable for forestry.
